  • Day 1: TOKYO -- MT. FUJI -- HAKONE
    Pick-up services available at major hotels in Tokyo between 7:30 and 8:30 am. Drive through the countryside and halfway up Mt. Fuji. Lunch at Hotel Highland Resort. Proceed to Hakone for a cruise on Lake Ashi and Mt. Komagatake Aerial Cableway. Overnight at HAKONE HOTEL KOWAKI-EN with hot spring baths.
  • Day 2: HAKONE -- NAGOYA -- TOBA
    Morning drive to Odawara for a Shinkansen to Nagoya. After lunch, sightseeing in Nagoya, visiting Nagoya Castle and Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology (when closed, visit Osu Kannon Temple instead). Late afternoon, continue train trip to Toba by Kintetsu limited-express train. Overnight at TOBA HOTEL INT'L.
  • Day 3: TOBA -- ISE -- KYOTO
    Morning visit to Pearl Island to see the process of cultured pearls and women pearl divers at work. Seafood lunch (or meat) at the hotel. Afternoon drive to Ise-Jingu Shrine, Japan's most sacred Shinto center. Board a limited-express train for Kyoto. Accommodations at NEW MIYAKO HOTEL (S) or THE MIYAKO (D) for 2 nights.
  • Day 4: KYOTO -- NARA -- KYOTO
    Morning sightseeing of the city, visiting Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle and Kyoto Imperial Palace (on Sat., Sun. & national holidays, visit Higashi Honganji Temple instead). After lunch at Kyoto Handicraft Center, tour to Nara. Visit Todaiji Temple with a great image of Buddha, Kasuga Shrine and Deer Park. Return to Kyoto.
  • Day 5: KYOTO -- HIROSHIMA -- MIYAJIMA -- KYOTO
    Transfer to Kyoto Station to board a Shinkansen for Hiroshima. Visit Itsukushima Shrine with its red torii gate in Miyajima and Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima. Return to Kyoto by Shinkansen. One-night extension in Kyoto.

  • Day 2: HAKONE -- NAGOYA -- TOBA
    Morning drive through the Hakone mountains to Odawara Station and ride a Shinkansen train to Nagoya.
    After lunch at Hotel Associa Nagoya Terminal, start for sightseeing in Nagoya, visiting Nagoya Castle, Tokugawa Art Museum and Atsuta Shrine.
    Late afternoon, continue train trip to Toba by Kintetsu's limited-express train.

  • Day 3: TOBA -- ISE -- KYOTO
    Morning visit to to Mikimoto Pearl Island to see the process of culture pearls and women pearl divers at work. Delicious seafood lunch (or meat, if preferred) at the hotel. Afternoon drive to Ise-Jingu Shrine, Japan's most sacred Shinto center. Then proceed to Uji-Yamada Station and board a limited-express train for the classical city of Kyoto.

  • Day 4: KYOTO -- NARA -- KYOTO
    Morning sightseeing of the city, visiting Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle noted for its gorgeous interiors, and Kyoto Imperial Palace (on Sat., Sun. & national holidays, visit Higashi Honganji Temple instead). After lunch at Kyoto Handicraft Center, excursion to Nara, the first permanent capital of Japan. Visit Todaiji Temple housing Great Buddha, colorful Kasuga Shrine with 3,000 lanterns, and Deer Park where many tame deer are freely roaming.
    Return to Kyoto.
  • Day 5: KYOTO -- HIROSHIMA
    Transfer to Kyoto Station to board a Shinkansen for Hiroshima.
    Afternoon tour visitin colorful Itsukushima Shine with its torii gate, which seems to float above the sea, and also visit the Peace Memorial Park, which has a museum displaying relics and photos of the A-bomb devastation.
    Stay at Rihga Royal Hotel Hiroshima.
  • Day 6: HIROSHIMA -- KURASHIKI -- OSAKA
    Take a Shinkansen train to Kurashiki. Visit Kurashiki Folkcraft Museum. Lunch at Kurashiki International Hotel.
    After lunch, visit Ohara Museum of Art. Board a train to Okayama and visit Korakuen Garden.
    Return to Osaka by Shinkansen train.
    Stay at Hotel Granvia Osaka.
  • Day 7: OSAKA
    Tour disbands in the morning. Hotel rooms are available until regular check - out time.

    Leave Tokyo for Sendai by Shinkansen Train. (Tourist-class reserved seat.)
    Afternoon city tour of Sendai visiting Zuihoden Mausoleum, the bomb of Lord Masamune; the Former site of Sendai Castle; and Sendai Municipal Museum.
    Accommodation at Hotel Metropolitan Sendai for 2 nights.
  • Day 2: SENDAI--MATSUSHIMA--SENDAI
    Local train to Matsushima Kaigan, then a strolling tour of Matsushima, visiting Zuiganji Temple, Kanrantei Villa, the teahouse relocated from Fushimi Castle in Kyoto, and Godaido Temple, which contains images of the five deities who conquer evil and lead to the elusive truth.
    Afternoon, board a sightseeing boat to enjoy a fascinating view of Matsushima, regarded as one of the Japan's "scenic trios".
    Evening, return to Sendai by local train.
  • Day 3: SENDAI -- SAPPORO
    Transfer to Sendai Airport by airport bus. Domestic flight to Shin-Chitose and transfer to Sapporo by airport train. Rest of the day, free at leisure. Accommodations at SAPPORO KORAKUEN HOTEL for 2 nights.
  • Day 4: SAPPORO
    Morning city tour of Sapporo visiting Mt. Moiwa by ropeway, Hitsujigaoka Observatory, Sapporo Clock Building and Sapporo Beer Factory. Tour disbands on arrival at Sapporo Station.
  • Day 5: SAPPORO -- OTARU -- NOBORIBETSU SPA
    Transfer to Sapporo Airport and drive to Otaru, a port city on the northwest coast of Hokkaido.
    Visit Otaru Canal covered with stone warehouses re-creating the 19th-Century atomosphere of the city. Transfer to Noboribetsu Spa. Dinner and accommodation at Park Hotel Miyabitei or similar ryokan at Noboribetsu Spa (Japanese or Japanese-western style room).
  • Day 6: HOBORIBETSU-USUZAN-HAKODATE
    Breakfast at the ryokan. Morning, visit to Mt.Usu and Lake Toya, Japan's third-largest caldera lake. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue ot Onuma Quasi-National Park, famous for its beautiful lakes, forest and abundant wild birds.
    Evening, enjoy a sweeping night view of Hakodate and its port from Mt.Hakodate.
    Dinner and accommodation at Yunokawa Kanko Hotel or similar ryokan at Yunokawa Spa (Japanese or Japanese-Western style room).

    Breakfast at the ryokan. Tour of Hakodate, visiting the morning market, Trappist monastery, Goryokaku Park and Motomachi streets.
    Tour disbands on arrival at JR Hakodate station around 2:00 pm. or at Hakodate airport between 3:30 and 7:00 pm.

Afternoon, stroll through Takayama, visiting Yatai Kaikan Hall, where colorfully decorated traditional festival floats are displayed; Kusakabe Folkcraft Museum, formerly the residence of powerful merchants under government patronage; and the streets of Kami Sannomachi, which preserve traditional Japanese wooden houses. Accommodation at Hida Hotel Plaza.
  • Day3: Takayama-Shirakawago-Kanazawa
    Visit the famous morning market of Takayama. Scenic drive by Lake Miboro and along Shokawa River to Shirakawago, designated in 1995 as part of the World Heritage. Its high lights are unique structures called Gassho-Zukuri, or joined-hands farmhouses. Then visit Gokayama, another World Heritage village, where you can experience making Gokayama Washi, traditional Japanese paper. Continue to Kanazawa.

  • Day4: Kanazawa - Kyoto
    Morning sightseeing in Kanazawa, visiting Kenroku-en Garden, one of Japan's three most beautiful traditional gardens; Kutaniyaki Pottery kiln; and a stroll through the Nagamachi Samurai House district.
    Afternoon, limited-express train to Kyoto. Transfer to major hotels in Kyoto, arriving around 5:00p.m.
