Take a detour away from the main tourist path and visit Takayama, also known as "Little Kyoto"
and enjoy its preserved historical structures and environment. Mingle with the locals at the thatched roofed village of Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage Site. Experience the making of washi (Japanese paper) at Gokayama. Visit Kanagawa, home of Kenrokuen Garden, one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan, and admire the ceramics at Kutaniyaki.

Day 1: Nagoya - Takayama

11:20 a.m.
Assemble at Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel
Nagoya Station (Limited Express Hida/150 mins.) Takayama Station
Yatai Kaikan Hall (30 mins.) Kusakabe Folk Museum (20 mins.) Kami Sannomachi Street (30 mins.)

5:30-6:30 p.m.
Stay at Hida Hotel Plaza

Day 2: Takayama - Shirakawago - Kanazawa


8:30 a.m.
Hotel Morning Market of Takayama (30 mins.) Lake Miboro (drive through) Former Toyama Family Residence (30 mins.) Shirakawa-go / Gassho-Zukuri (90 mins.) Experience of Japanese Paper Making in Gokayama (60 mins.)

5:30-6:30 p.m.
Hotel in Kanazawa.

Day 3: Kanazawa - Nagoya

9:00 a.m.
Hotel Kenrokuen Garden (60 mins.) Kutaniyaki Pottery Kiln (30 mins.) Higashi-chaya Street  (30 mins.) Kanazawa Station (Limited Express Shirasagi/180 mins.) Nagoya Station

5:00-6:00 p.m.
The tour will disband on arrival at Nagoya Station


REMARKS

1. Depending upon traffic, weather conditions, or other operational needs, a motorcoach may be used to transfer from Nagoya Station to Takayama Station.
2. JTB staff will not meet participants at Nagoya Station on Day 3.

1. We recommend you wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Also, please bring a coat and warm clothes from the chilly month of October to the snowy month of February.
2. When the former Toyama family residence is closed, or during days of heavy snow in the winter, we may visit the Gassho-zukuri Folklore Park.
3. Lake Miboro may be skipped if there is heavy snow.
4. When booking three people in one room, Japanese-Western-style rooms will be arranged for Deluxe room in Hida Hotel Plaza.
5. The tour will visit Kusakabe Folk Museum on Day 2 if the museum is closed on Day 1.
